Biography

Born in Poland, after completing his Bachelor studies in Academy of Music in Poznań, Michał graduated in 2019 from his Master’s degree in Sibelius Academy under the teaching of Harri Mäki and Kari Kriikku. Since then, he cooperated with different Finnish orchestras such as the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, Finnish National Opera and Ballet and Tapiola Sinfonietta. Currently, he holds the position of principal clarinetist in Oulu Sinfonia.

Besides, Michał is an active performer of contemporary music and has taken part in different projects by Umuu Orchestra at Tulkinnanvaraista, Avanti! Chamber Orchestra and the ensemble Kalevi Aho Trio, that played in Wiener Musikverein in 2016. At the contemporary music festival Uuden Musiikin Lokakuu XV, Michał performed the world premiere of the Clarinet Quintet by Sakari Raappana.

Michał performed as a guest soloist with Aalen Symphony Orchestra (Germany), as well as performed and recorded B. H. Crusell's Trio Concertante with Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra in NDR Landesfunkhaus Niedersachsen in Hanover (Germany). In 2021, he played Kalevi Aho Clarinet Concerto under the baton of Anu Tali and Oulu Sinfonia. In words of Kalevi Aho, it was "extremely well and sovereignly performed".

In 2018, Michał received a scholarship by Yehuda Gilad after attending his Masterclass in Crussell Festival, Uusikaupunki (Finland). In 2019, he was awarded with a scholarship by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
